Families and Loved Ones

Aria is the term for a soloist in an opera, a person who sings alone but is accompanied by an orchestra. As our journey through life comes to a close we are surrounded by our own personal orchestra, people who care for us and love us.

Families and Loved Ones

Although hospice care primarily focuses on the needs of the patient, we also recognize the impact a life-limiting illness has on family members, caregivers, and loved ones.

As a primary caregiver, you:

  • Serve as a vital link between our team and your family

  • Help oversee your loved one’s care in the home

  • Communicate with the hospice staff regarding changes in your loved one’s condition

We are committed to supporting family, caregivers, and loved ones throughout this journey so that they can focus on being present with their loved one and managing daily tasks. This assistance can take many different forms, depending on your individual needs.

  • Family/Caregiver Education

Family caregivers are important in providing care. However, this can be a challenging job. We help caregivers every step of the way by providing education and support to increase early recognition of the recurrence/emergence of symptoms, manage symptoms at home, meet patient’s care needs, understand the disease process, and answer questions.

  • Emotional & Spiritual Support

Coming to terms with death is something we all have to do, but it is never easy. Trained professional hospice staff can help both patients and their loved ones understand what is happening and cope with the emotional and spiritual issues related to having a life-limiting illness, or caring for and loving someone with a life-limiting illness.

  • Practical Support

Aria offers assistance with practical support such as applying for financial entitlements (ALTCS, VA benefits), completing advanced directives and power of attorney documents, making burial arrangements, and securing community resources/services to address unmet social and financial needs.

  • Grief Support

Hospice care does not stop with the end of life. Our grief specialists offer face to face and phone counseling, check in phone calls, and written literature about understanding and coping with grief for up to 13 months, depending on individual needs and comfort level. All services are completely free of charge and available to family, friends, and caregivers. To learn more about grief support services through Aria Hospice Comfort Care, Click Here.
